Frequently Asked Questions

Yes – all rentals come with Basic Cover at no extra cost. This includes protection against collision damage, theft, and third-party liability. The catch? It comes with a higher liability:

  • $3,000 for light vehicles (cars, SUVs, utes, vans)
  • $5,000 for heavier vehicles (trucks, 13+ seat vehicles)

If you're happy to take on a bit more risk to keep costs down, Basic Cover will do the trick. But if you want more peace of mind, you’ve got options.

Absolutely. Windscreen cover can be added on to Basic or Superior Cover:

  • $10/day for most vehicles
  • $15/day for large or heavy vehicles

If you’re travelling in areas prone to flying stones or high winds, it’s a smart choice.

LDW reduces or removes your financial responsibility if something happens to the vehicle. It’s included with Superior and Max Cover, which is why many customers opt for one of these levels – they don’t want to risk a big bill if something goes wrong.

We believe in being upfront. Here’s what’s not covered, regardless of your insurance level:

  • Driving on unsealed roads or beaches (unless you’re in a Ute)
  • Roof, underbody, or side window damage
  • Ignoring warning lights or mechanical alerts
  • Rideshare use (Uber, etc.)
  • Lost keys, incorrect fuel, or damage from smoking
  • Driving by someone not listed on the agreement

Make sure you read our Terms and Conditions for the full list.

If you’re hiring a Ute, yes – most unsealed roads are fine. They’re built for rougher terrain. For all other vehicles, unsealed roads are excluded from cover. Beaches and roads like Skippers Canyon, Ninety Mile Beach, and Rainbow Road are also off-limits. Make sure you read our Terms and Conditions for the full list.

No – We cover the vehicle itself. Theft or damage to your personal items (like luggage, tech, or tools) should be claimed through your travel or home insurance.

A flat $400 security deposit is required for all rentals. This is held on your card and released when the vehicle is returned damage-free.

  • If you’re a pre-approved business account holder, the security deposit is waived.

Yes. The security deposit must be held on a credit card in the hirer’s name. If you only have Eftpos or debit, give us a heads-up – we’ll work through other options with you. Account holders don’t need a credit card to hire.

Even if you’ve paid a security deposit, we still need a valid credit card on file for the duration of your rental. Here’s why:

  • Fast and secure hold for additional charges: A credit card allows us to place a pre-authorisation (or hold) for any unexpected costs – like extra kilometres, refuelling, late returns, or damage outside your insurance cover. It’s released once the vehicle is returned in line with the rental agreement.
  • Flexibility for any changes: If you decide to extend your hire or upgrade vehicles, having a credit card on file makes it quicker and easier to update your booking without delay.
  • It’s standard practice across the rental industry: We follow industry best practices to keep things fair and transparent – and using a credit card helps us process any adjustments accurately and securely.

If you don’t have a credit card, get in touch – we’ll talk through your options and see how we can make it work.

Yes – we allow businesses to self-insure. Here’s how it works:

  • You’ll need to provide a valid certificate of insurance that covers rental vehicles.
  • If damage occurs, we charge your business directly for the full cost of repairs.
  • You then claim the cost back from your insurer. We don’t liaise with your insurance provider – but we’ll supply all documentation you need to make your claim.

We’ll assess the damage, talk you through what happened, and apply the liability based on your insurance level.

  • With Max Cover: $0 cost to you
  • With Superior or Basic: you pay the relevant liability

Even if it wasn’t your fault (like a trolley dent or weather damage), you’re still responsible unless:

  • You have Max Cover, or
  • We successfully recover costs from the third-party

That’s why many customers prefer Max – fewer hassles.

Nope. We hold the security deposit, inspect the vehicle on return, and if needed, apply charges and send a breakdown of what happened.

If a damaged vehicle can’t be hired out while it’s being fixed, we lose revenue. That’s called "Loss of Use."

  • Covered under Superior and Max Cover
  • Not covered under Basic

1. Make sure everyone is safe
2. Call emergency services if needed
3. Then call us – we’ll talk you through the next steps and help with paperwork

We offer 24/7 Roadside Assistance with every hire. With Max Cover, common issues like flat batteries, tyre punctures, and lockouts are also covered. For others, the callout is arranged and costs may apply.

Yes, as long as they are:

  • Listed on the rental agreement
  • Meet the age/licensing requirements

Just let us know when booking or picking up the vehicle.

Yes – many customers do. Business travel, on-site work, and commercial jobs are fine. Rideshare services (like Uber) are not covered.

Yes. Basic Cover is included for all hires. But for a lower liability and fewer surprises, many customers choose Superior or Max.

Yes – anytime before pickup. Once you’re on the road, the coverage level is locked in for the duration of your hire.

Sometimes – check with your insurer. But keep in mind:

  • You’ll still need to pay your liability upfront if something happens
  • You then claim it back from your insurer

To avoid that hassle, many customers just choose Superior or Max Cover.

Yes, and we do too. We walk you through any existing marks and recommend taking a few quick photos for your own peace of mind. Better safe than sorry!

You can cancel or change your cover level anytime before your rental starts. Once you're on the road, the cover level is fixed for the full duration of the hire.
